Jehovah God reveals the Lord Jesus Christ through David. In order to see that revelation, we have to consider David’s point of view when it comes to God. In Psalms 23, we see David recognize Jehovah as his Shepherd.
As a shepherd himself, David uses the characteristics of a true shepherd. He was a shepherd that risked his life fighting off and killing a lion as well as a bear. He was also a loving shepherd, one who really cared for his sheep. He really worshiped his Lord, for David there were no other gods, but Jehovah.
In Psalms 110:1, we see David prophesying what God said, “The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at My right hand, Till I make your enemies Your footstool’.” Only through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, we are able to have an understanding of what is going on in these two passages. In Psalms 23, David proclaimed Jehovah as his Shepherd and in Psalms 110:1, Jehovah proclaimed to David that Jesus will sit to his right until his enemies are beneath him. That could be very confusing for the carnal mind. Thanks be to God, for the precious Holy Spirit that reveals the hidden secrets of God.
To further prove this prophecy that David is not the Messiah, let’s look at Matthew 22:41-46, “While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “The Son of David.” He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord’, saying: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool” ’? “If David then calls Him ‘Lord’, how is He his Son?” And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.”
What we see in Psalms 110 is Jehovah God foretelling of his reign on this earth through Jesus Christ the Lord. Through the scriptures God the Father reveals Jesus Christ as himself.
One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 9:6-7, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgement and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
The definition of a Counselor (specifically a Lawyer): one gives advice in Law and manages cases in court for clients.
Jesus is our wonderful Counselor.
The Lord God and the Son are one. Our God is a God that is and will be whatever he wants to be. He is a God that is not ashamed to become a Son, a Child, a Man that suffered a shameful death, crucified naked on a cross all because He loves us.
Thank you the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
